GAD Awareness mainstreaming to Partner-Barangays in Zamboanga City and Basilan

Significant community leaders in the Partner-Barangays of Katilingban Sa Kalambuan Inc. (KKI), Reach-Out to Others Foundation, Inc. (ROOF) in Zamboanga City and Nagdilaab Foundation, Inc. (NFI) in Basilan were brought together last February 1 for ROOF and NFI then on February 2 for KKI to evaluate their knowledge and experience in Gender And Development in their respective Barangays.

Department of Budget and Management Specialist Mr. Mark Martin discussed about the GAD Planning and Budgeting for Barangays. The activity allowed the participants to re-assess their implemented and un-implemented GAD Plans for year 2017.

With the help of facilitators Ms. Maisie Faith Dagapioso and Jurgett Honculado also served as the ZABIDA GAD Program Researcher, the majority of the participants expressed their personal sentiments and misunderstandings on Gender and its effect to Community Development.

ZABIDA, through its GAD Awareness Program and GAD Research, it envisions to further strengthen its approach in addressing GAD concerns and issues to effectively support the GAD Programs of their Partner-Barangays.

ZABIDA is an Non-Government Organization and a consortium of four (4) independent Non-Profit Organizations namely Katilingban Sa Kalambuan Organization, Inc., Reach-Out to Others Foundation, Inc., Peace Advocates Zamboanga Foundation Inc., and Nagdilaab Foundation, Inc., all operating in Zamboanga City and Basilan empowering communities towards human security through Participatory Governance, Peace and Development and Human Rights Advocacy Campaign. The organization implements the Convenio Project within the region through the support of the Spanish Cooperation Agency for International Development (AECID) and the Manos Unidas.
