36 Graduating Students are YOUNG PEACEWEAVERS 2013

IN their non-stop pursuit to mold peace champions in this city, Peace Advocates Zamboanga (PAZ) and the Interreligious Solidarity for Peace (ISP) conferred the Young Peace Weavers Award to 28 deserving graduating secondary students and eight graduating tertiary students for this school year, all of whom have made significant contributions to peace in their respective schools and communities.

For 12 years now the Young Peace Weavers Award is given annually by PAZ and ISP to the peace-conscious students in high school and college in both public and private schools.

After had been endorsed by their respective schools, the nominees had undergone the selection process with the screening committee whose members are from ISP and PAZ. The major criterion is the active participation of the nominees in efforts in peace building and instilling an awareness of the process towards the culture of peace as against the culture of violence in their schools and communities.

Since 2001, at least 185 youths were enrolled as Young Peace Weavers who in one way or the other have shown excellence, leadership, service and commitment to peace in their various involvements and careers, then and now.

The 28 awardees from the secondary level for this year’s Young Peace Weavers are: Densteve F. Empuesto (Ayala NHS), Tessa S. Erilis (Ayala NHS), Irene G. Luntayao (Sangali NHS), Murmi I. Ismael (Sangali NHS), Diana A. Hapi (Tagasilay NHS), Randy Napalcruz (Ma. Clara L. Lobregat Memorial High School), Jomari J. Hamsaji (Lubigan NHS), Mudzna C. Sapii (Limpapa NHS), Mary Rose Anne S. Senit (Zambo. City High School-Main), Kraig Louie A. Tampon (Zambo. City High School-Main), Homer E. Guerrero (Zambo. City High School-Main), MC Jefferson B. Deang (Zambo. City High School-Main), Marianne Pearl R. Gregorio (Regional Science High School), Clareene Belleza Delfin (Ramon Enriquez Memorial High School), Mish Al K. Dasid (Recodo NHS), Al-Rajhi T. Otoalih (Talisayan NHS), Alraji R. Sappari (Zambo. NHS-West), Myler N. Ybarley (Zambo. NHS-West), Fatima Marfa A. Nagdar (Zambo. NHS-West), Joysee Threeneedad R. Longakit (Manicahan NHS), Kitzhack V. Dulalas (Southcom NHS), Haydel A. Munap (Arena Blanco NHS), Norhaina B. Musad (Baluno NHS), John Gualbert M. Cases (Zion Evangelical School), Nurjiji L. Ajubain (Tuan Datu Hadji Abdulla Nuno Memorial High School), Kimberly Anne D. Villaflores (Pilar College-High School), Salina Biene B. Teo (Ateneo de Zamboanga University-High School) and Christine Joy D. Casipe (Claret School of Zamboanga);

While, the eight awardees from the tertiary level are: Al-Jamiel A. Abdulla (UZ), Munding Milaham Abdurahman (UZ), Nurhaina Icy K. Malong (UZ), Blau Ivo J. Delos Reyes (UZ), Ramsyss M. Andaya (WMSU), Edison T. Gabin (Brent College), Gualbert A. Lantaya Jr. (ZSCMST) and Ryan Victor P. Miranda (AdZU).

The Award was bestowed on the awardees during their graduation rites.
