Basic Sectors Trained on for Empowerment

In reference to the Bottom Up Budgeting Project for Capacity Building: Empowerment Programs for the Basic Sectors in Zamboanga City, different civil society organizations from various sectors participated in a training organized by the City Social Welfare and Development in partnership with ZABIDA and the City Planning Office.

The training informed the CSOs/Sectors on the importance of their participation in the local government processes, especially in the Local development planning. Some of them who were already active as CSO member representatives in the Local Poverty Reduction Action Team of Zamboanga City, inspired the others who were not and saw the training as a chance to be the voice of their represented sectors such as the persons with disabilities, farmers, fisherfolks, entrepreneurs/vendors and many others.

The participants were also glad that the project proposal workshop has been an opportunity for them to learn how to make a proposal, not only for the BUB but for other projects/funders that will be able to help them on the development of their sector/group.

The activity was funded by the national government coursed through the Department of Interior and Local Government. The training workshops were divided into three parts; Part I: CSOs in Local Development Planning; Part II; Project Proposal Writing and Workshop, and; Part III: CSOs in Monitoring and Evaluation of Projects Implemented; were conducted in different schedules within this month of June.
