FHD, PBSP Ink Commitment For Zambo-SIBUGAY Eeducation Initiatives

Davao City – MADRID-based Spanish non-government organization Fundacion Humanismo Y Democracia (H+D) and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) recently signed a Memorandum of Commitment for the education project in Sibugay and Zamboanga City.

Present to sign the commitment which was held at the PLDT Building in Makati were Señor Raphael Rodriguez Ponga Y Salamanca, Vice President of the Fundacion Humanismo Y Democracia and PBSP Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.

FHD and the PBSP are implementing an education initiative for indigent children in Sibugay and Zamboanga City.

Dubbed Accesso a la Educacion y Mejora dela Calidad Educativa en Colegios dela Peninsula de Zamboanga (Improving the Access and Quality of Education of Students in Zamboanga Peninsula), the project aims to increase access of children and youth to quality basic education through scholarship support, schoolbuilding construction, provision of chairs, science laboratory & technology livelihood equipments, and school-based supplemental feeding program.

At least 1,100 elementary school children in Sibugay and another 1,000 high school students in Zamboanga City have been supported in its scholarship program. The whole education initiative expects to benefit over 23,000 school children in the region. (Danny Escabarte/PBSP)
