MYDev Youth Enhanced Entrepreneurial Skills

MYDev Youths take another Step to Enhance their Skills and Knowledge: To Think and Do Business.

More than 50 Mindanao Youth for Development youths attended a Seminar under the Small Medium Enterprises Roving Academy (SMERA) program of the Department of Trade and Industry in cooperation with ZABIDA-MYDev, EDC, and the City Government.

The one and a half day of seminars entitled “How to start a Business on Product Costing and Pricing” and “Orientation on Product Labelling/Packaging and Briefing on the FDA (Food and Drug Authority) License to Operate Requirements” respectively were discussed by DTI Trade and Development Specialists, Jamir Omar A. Abubakar,ChiefTDIS), Garry Micubo, (TIDS), and Roel Catimbang, SupervisingTDIS-region IX, along with Ms. Sharon Rose P. Garcia, Food and drug Regulation Officer.

MYDev program coordinator Jobel Henesy Foliente said that the purpose of the seminars is “for the youths to wake their intensity to put up a business on their own”. “The youths are encouraged to apply the skills what they have learned and completed from the MYDev skills training.”

According to the Management Information System staff, Janzel jean M. Javier, the youths who had completed different skills from different barangays were present. These were; Tailoring from Sta. Catalina; Food Processing from barangays Tetuan, Tugbungan, Talon-Talon, Pasonanca; Bread and Pastry, Culianan; Horticulture, Tulungatung; and Raise Organic Chicken, Ayala.

SMERA is a program from the DTI in partnership with other government agencies to help assist the small-medium entrepreneurs to enhance, improve and sustain their businesses in the region.
