SMART Joins Brigada Eskwela in Tawi-Tawi

School opening has been made lighter and hassle free for the school kids after community volunteers in this part of the country poured skills and energy, conducting minor repairs on classrooms, repainting walls and sprucing up school grounds in time for the start of classes.

Bringing boxes of books and other reading materials for the school children, personnel from Smart Communications joined fellow volunteers from the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and community volunteers for Brigada Eskwela activity in Tawi-Tawi recently.

Smart volunteers Lowell Roca, H. Bernabe and Rommel Rubillos distributed books as part of the Brigada undertaking. The book-giving effort is part of the Smart PasaBook Project initiated by employee volunteers of the telecommunications company. The undertaking aims to assist school children in depressed communities acquire and develop reading skills through the provision of quality books and other reading materials.
