ROOF and Manos Unidas turn-over GAD/DRRM Logistical Support to Brgy. La Paz

ZABIDA through its Convenio Program and components on Participatory Barangay Governance and Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM), supported Enhancing  Barangay DRRM Planning  through  Sectoral Consultation, Capacity/Awareness Raising, and  Resource Mobilization for the implementation of  small, quick impact DRRM sectoral priority plans.

Reach-Out to Others Foundation (ROOF) continues to conduct a Logistical Support to its Partner-Barangays. Last October 7 of this year, Barangay La Paz received table, chairs, and megaphone for Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) and tools and equipment for Sayote (Chayote) Pickles for Gender And Development/Sectoral/Poverty Reduction. 

Manos Unidas, being the administrative International Non-Profit Organization (INGO) for the Convenio Program in the Philippines, conducted its yearly visit and sent its Country Coordinators Ms. Jessica Del Olmo and Mr. Miguel Carballo. They both witnessed and participated in the turn-over and Memorandum of Agreement ceremony at the La Paz Barangay Hall. 

Also present in the event were Dr. Grace J. Rebollos, ROOF President, Hon. Ancelita Dalingay, La Paz’s Barangay Chairman together with her Barangay Council Members, Ms. Liezel Del Mundo, President of Mujeres de La Paz, the women sector organization of the Barangay and ROOF Staff, Mr. Khamar Amsain, Program Coordinator, Mr. Dennis and Rahsa Alberto, BLGU Coordinators.

Manos Unidas Country Coordinators to the Philippines visits Basilan

Manos Unidas is an INGO based in Madrid, Spain. It is the administrative organization for the Convenio Program in the Philippines which is being implemented by the Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. (ZABIDA).

For year 2017, Manos Unidas sends their Country Coordinators to visit and personally meet the Convenio Program beneficiaries in Basilan. NAGDILAAB Foundation, Inc. (NFI), a member-organization of ZABIDA, through its Executive Director Ms. Miriam Suacito, warmly welcomed the arrival of Ms. Jessica Del Olmo and Mr. Miguel Carballo in Isabela, Basilan, October 5 of this year.

Together with ZABIDA’s Chairperson, Fr. Angel C. Calvo, CMF and Regional Executive Director, Ms. Esperancita Hupida, NFI arranged a courtesy meeting with Mayor Hanie Bud, of Maluso Municipality. Mayor Bud expressed his appreciation for the support NFI is providing to Barangays in his Municipality. “We really appreaciate your visit because it is not always that we have visitors from other country…”, Mayor Bun also emphasized.

Thereafter, they were brought to Upper Portholland Elementary School to visit the Peace Park and Concrete ground, a result of the Logistical Support from the Spanish Cooperation through the Convenio Program, Townsite Barangay Hall, still in Maluso Municipality, one of NFI’s partner-barangays and beneficiaries of the Logistical Support and a Courtesy Call visit with the Provincial Governor, Hajiman Salliman.

During the Courtesy Call visit to the Office of the Provincial Governor, Gov. Salliman assured the above-mentioned guests that the Province is now “relatively safer” and that the government is focused on strengthening its Tourism through improving its Peace and Security in Basilan as a whole. Salliman also expressed his gratitude and heartfelt welcome for the guests emphasizing how NFI is helping his government in Socio-Civic Development.

6 Barangays receives DRRM and GAD Logistical Support from ROOF

Barangay Bolong proposed an Animal Disperal Project which was supported by ROOF through a Goat and Pig (Swine). A turn-over of the said animals took place at the Barangay Bolong, Barangay Hall last September 2. Present in the ceremony were Hon. Junie Enriques, Barangay Kagawad of Brgy. Bolong, Mr. Erikson Clavano, President of the Multi-Sector group together with other members of the Barangay’s Sector groups.

On September 6, 2 units of Canopy Tents were turned-over to Barangay Divisoria as part of their Disaster Risk Reduction Management project. Hon. Jesus Macrohon and the rest of the Barangay Council members participated in the ceremony, Divisoria Elementary School was also represented by Mrs. Malou Rebollos, Elementary School Principal together with the Children’s and Farmers Sector members.

Barangay Recodo, on the other hand, received 1 Unit of Generator Set 7HP on September 7, for their Disaster Risk Reduction Management. The ceremony was mainly participated by Barangay Chairman Hon. Wahab Ibba, Indigenous People Mandatory Representative, Hon. Layna Abdurasid, members of the Barangay Council, Members of the Sector groups and Dr. Rufina Cruz, ROOF Vice President.

While Barangay Lapakan, on September 13, received 50 sacks of Rice in support of their Rice Retailing Business for their multi-sector groups composed of Women, Farmers, Children, Youth. This is under the Gender and Development and Sector-Poverty Reduction Logistical Support. Hon. Clodualdo Cosme, Members of the Barangay Council and Mrs. Merlie Cosme, President of the multi-sector group showed their support in the turn-over ceremony.

September 26, Barangay Bungiao received their proposed signage on Disaster Risk Reduction Management to raise awareness to its community. This is to strengthen their Disaster Risk Reduction Management in the Barangay. Present in the turn-over ceremony were members of the Barangay Local Government Unit, Sector group members of the Barangay which is headed by Kagwad Leo Resurreccion, Kagawad Flordelina Sadallani, Kagawad Babyna Gregorio, Mr, Olie Paulino, Bellas Mujeres de Bungiao President, Mrs. Luz Ramos.

ROOF capped off their series of Logistical Support turn-over in Barangay Cabaluay. 4 units of Sewing Machines for their livelihood Project to the Women’s sector which is dressmaking, 2 units of spine board, 4 units of neck brace and 2 units of harness were also turn-over for their Disaster Risk Reduction Management Logistical Support proposal. Barangay Captain Makko Apolinario and members of the Barangay Council of cabaluay and the President of La Mujeres de cabaluay, Mrs. veronica Francisco showed their support through their participation.

In all these turn-over ceremonies, ROOF President Dr. Grace J. Rebollos personally turned-over the above-mentioned Barangays’ Logistical Support on DRRM, GAD, Sector Poverty Alleviation requests. Also with her were ROOF workforce namely Khamar Amsain, Program Coordinator, Asthon Suico, Rahsa Alberto and Dennis Alberto, LGU Coordinators. AS of September this year, ROOF has around 4 remaining target Barangays to grant their proposed Logistical Support on Gender and Development, Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Sector Poverty Alleviation.
