Photo Feature: Celebration of World Water Day meeting in Basilan

The Basilan Civil Society Organization-Climate Change Adaptation Alliance (CCA) with Nagdilaab Foundation, Inc. had meeting on February 22, 2018 at NFI Conference Hall, Isabela City, Basilan. Nineteen (19) participants representing fourteen (14) organizations as member of the Gandang Gaddung (Green Beauty) Basilan. The Alliance discussed the following agenda; CSO-CCA Launching Planning, Details on Advocacy Materials and Ways forward like Internal Policies, and Organizational Leadership. The meeting centered on the conduct of a walk for the environment during the celebration of World Water Day on March 22, 2018 with the theme: “Awit at Sayaw Alay sa Kalikasan”. (Ayara Jaimin)

Welcoming #ZABIDAin2018

ZABIDA welcomes the New Year through a 4-day Annual Operations Planning (AOP) Activity together with its member-organizations Nagdilaab Foundation, Inc., Reach-Out to Others Foundation Inc., Katilingban Sa Kalambuang Organization, Inc., and Peace Advocates Zamboanga Foundation Inc., last January 9 to 12 of this year. 

 

With the trends to development constantly changing and both natural and man-made disasters still unpredictable, the Regional Program Management Office of ZABIDA, through the President, Fr. Angel C. Calvo, CMF, and Executive Director, Esperancita Hupida,  the Program Coordinators and Staff were made to understand the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 Agenda to serve as a guide towards the future Project Implementations. 

 

This year 2018, the Convenio Project, supported by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and Manos Unidas in Spain, is on its 4th year. The AOP is an opportunity for ZABIDA to re-evaluate and strengthen its strategies in addressing the 4 components under the project which are Participatory Governance, Peace Advocacy, Human Rights and Environment. Youth Peace Camp 2017 in Maluso, Basilan

NAGDILAAB Foundation, Inc., (NFI) as part of its Peace and Security component, gathered 75 youth from its four (4) Peace Education Partner-Schools from October 28-30 of this year at Claret School of Maluso in a Youth Peace Camp 2017.

Participating Partner-Schools were Upper Bato-Bato National High School in Akbar Municipality, Concepcion National High School in Matarling, Lantawan Municipality, Atong-Atong National High School in Atong-Atong, Lantawan Municipality, Tairan National High School in Tairan Lantawan Municipality, and Maluso National High School in Maluso Municipality catering Barangays Upper Portholland, Shipyard Tabuk and Townsite),

According to the Peace Education Coordinator, Mr. Arvin Sarao Debide, “the purpose of the Youth EPeace Camp 2017 is to build and strenghten the awareness of the youth by discussing timely issues on violent extremism, adult reproductive health: premarital sex and teenage pregnancy at the same time inspiring the youth to be more functional and active through the topic Youth Empowerment. (sic)”

NFI is a member-organization of ZABIDA, aims to improve the capability of rural and urban communities to be active partners in development. It will provide technical assistance and complement existing systems in the delivery of basic services. more here: http://www.zabida.org/nfi/
