ROOF Logistical Support Turn-Over for December 2017

Through the support of the Spanish Cooperation (AECID) and Manos Unidas to ZABIDA, in the implementation of Convenio 2 Project,  ROOF as a member-organization, conducted its last set of Logistical Support Turn-Over for year 2017. 

 

Last December 26, ROOF turned-over its Logistical Support to Barangay Lamisahan for the Disaster Risk Reduction Manament (DRRM). Present during the turn-overceremony and MOA signing were Hon. Rodel Alvarez and the rest of the Barangay Councils. And Dr. Grace J. Rebollos ROOF President, Mr. Khamar Ismael Amsain, ROOF Program Coordinator and LGU -Coordinator assigned in Barangay Lamisahan Ms. Rahsa Alberto.

 

On the same day, Barangay Dulian received its Logistical Support on Gender and Development and sectoral/Poverty Alleviation to the Multi-sectoral Group in the said Barangay. Present during the turn over and MOA signing Hon. Leon Tabuena, Barangay Chairman and the rest of the Barangay Council and the sectoral groups and Dr.Grace Rebollos ROOF President, Khamar Ismael Amsain ROOF Program Coordinator and Ms. Rahsa Alberto LGU Coordinator. 

 

Then, on December 23, turned-over 52 sacks of Rice for Rice Retailing as Logistical Support to Barangay Divisoria for the Gender and Development & Sectoral/Poverty Alleviation to the Women’s Association of the Barangay Pamucutan. Present during the Turn-Over, the MOA signing and Induction of Officers were Hon. Marissa Saavedra and Hon. Carlos Guerrero and the Sectoral Groups of Barangay Divisoria. Also present were Dr. Grace Rebollos, ROOF President, Khamar Ismael Amsain, ROOF Program Coordinator, Mr. Dennis Albert, LGU Coordinator assigned to Barangay Divisoria and Asthon Suico, LGU Coordinator. 

 

Barangay Pamucutan received Logistical Support for Gender and Development Sectoral/Poverty Alleviation and Disaster Risk Reduction Management on December 28. Present during the Turn-Over ceremony were the Barangay Council of Barangay Pamucutan, the Women Association of Pamucutan and the Youth Sector, Dr. Rufina Cruz, ROOF Vice President,  Khamar Ismael Amsain, ROOF Program Coordinator, Dennis Alberto and Asthon Suico, LGU Coordinators.

Governance Logistical Support Turn-Over in Basilan

Nagdilaab Foundation Inc., as a member-organization of ZABIDA, implements the Convenio Project supported by the Spanish Cooperation (AECID) and Manos Unidas in Basilan. For the month of December, they have conducted a series of Logistical Support Turn-Over for Governance, Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) and Gender and Development. These logistical supports are directly proposed by partner-barangays addressing the above-mentioned components. 

On December 26, 2017, Farmer Tools and Equipment were turned-over to the Farmers Organization of Switch Yakal which also inducted the officers for the Switch Yakal Farmers Organization.. The ceremony took place at the Barangay Hall, Switch Yakal, Lantawan Municipality. This was headed by Ms. Deddette Suacito together with Mr. John Francisco,  NFI-LGU Coordinator for Lantawan Municipality. 

Still in Lantawan Municipality but in Barangay Upper Manggas, the Women Sector Group and the Outpost (Security Sector Group) received Kitchen Utensils Logistical Support last December 16. Held at Upper Manggas, Barangay Hall, Lantawan Municipality. Present during turnover ceremony were Hon. Nasser Abubakar, Vice Mayor, Lantawan Municipality together with the Barangay Officials, members of Women Sector, and Security Sector, Ms. Dedette Suacito, NFI Executive Director and Mr. John Francisco, LGU Coordinator for Lantawan Municipality.

 

Another Logistical Support addressing Poverty Reduction, Gender-Responsive and DRRM were turned-over to Barangay Upper Port Holland in Maluso, Basilan. December 17, NFI through its Executive Director, Ms. Suacito and the LGU Coordinator for Maluso Municipality, Mr. Paulo Lataba, officially turned-over the Barangay’s proposed logistical support. Also present during the ceremony were the different Sector Groups and its members, Hon. Hja Basma Sahak Jimlani,Barangay Chairwoman of Upper Port Holland along with her Barangay Kagawads and sectoral representatives.

Same day, Barangay Shipyard Tabuk, in Maluso, Basilan received Logistical Support addressing Poverty Reduction, Gender-Responsive and Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM). Headed by Ms. Deddette Suacito, Executive Director and Paulo Lataba, LGU  Coordinator for Maluso Municipality also there to witness the turnover were Hon. Rosnie T. Hadjirul, Brgy. Chairwoman of Shipyard Tabuk, Ms. Consolacion Martin, Asst. MSWDO, Hji. Salahuddin Musa, TIC of Shipyard Elementary School and all sectors of the community.

 

Thereafter, still on the same day, a Turn Over Ceremony for Logistical Support (CVO Outpost and Water Pipes) of Convenio 2 Project (Governance Component) took place in Barangay Lower Bañas, Lantawan Basilan. Present during the turn over ceremony were: Ms. Deddette Suacito, Executive Director of Nagdilaab Foundation, Inc. Ms. Erica Angelique P. Fernandez, LGU Coordinator, assigned in Lantawan Municipality, Barangay Council headed by the Barangay Chairman Hon. Nelson Virtucio and the different Sector Groups.

 

Lastly, 3 Units Sewing Machine, Garment Materials & Supplies, 30 pcs. Plastic Chairs, and 6 pcs. Plastic Tables Logistical Support were turned-over in Barangay Calayan, Lantawan Basilan. Still addressing the above-mentioned components. Present during the turn over ceremony were Mr. John Francisco, LGU Coordinator assigned in Lantawan Municipality, Barangay Council headed by the Barangay Chairman Hon. Raja Bungso Edris and the different Sector Groups.

New Homes for 80 Families

Kinaiyahan Eco-Village, a housing project of ZABIDA through the Katilingban Sa Kalambuan, Inc. supported by the Convenio 2 Project of the Spanish Cooperation (AECID), is now the new home of 80 families from the verious Urban Poor Associations in Zamboanga City.

ZABIDA through Katilingban Sa Kalambuan Inc. (KKI) inaugurates its 4th Housing Project which is supported by the Spanish Cooperation (AECID) through Manos Unidas. The village will be housed by 80 families coming from different Urban Poor Associations and that are members of PAKAZA in Zamboanga City.

These 80 Families worked together to build their new homes that solely promotes Community Empowerment. Mr. Eliseo Taub, President of the Kinaiyahan Eco-village Home Owners Association expressed in his message that they are very grateful for the opportunity given to them to work for their now new homes and he as president is looking forward to creating a better community with its fellow members. He also said that he is beyond happy that all of the 80 families of the village is starting year 2018 with a new beginning in their new homes.

Barangay Chairperson Hon. Pilarica Ledesma, in her message, expressed that as Baranggay Sinunuc is getting bigger in population, she reminded the new members to be cooperate and participate in Barangay activities such as that of the Solid Waste Management. She also invited the home owners to process their record in the Barangay to avail benefits and easier request of documentation in the future.

Also present during the event was Manos Unidas Country Coordinator to the Philippines, Ms. Jessica del Olmo, ROOF President, Dr. Grace J Rebollos, ZABIDA Executive Director, Ms. Esperancita Hupida and ZABIDA President, Fr. Angel C. Calvo, Comission on Human Rights, Task Force Zamboanga and the Philippine National Police.

Fr. Angel C. Calvo, in his talk, put emphasis on the responsibility as individuals and as members of the community. He also expressed how he is looking forward to see the development of every family in the Kinaiyahan Eco-Village in the future.

Later on that afternoon, a launching of the book entitled “Scissors, Papers, Water, Stones”, written by Maria Frencie Carreon, which evolves around stories of migrants to Zamboanga City for the past 2-3 decades and that of the Home Owners of all the Katilingban Housing. Interreligious Dialogue 2017 in Basilan

More than seventy (70) participants coming from different Religious organizations namely; Basilan Ulama Council, Imams and Traditional Leaders, Alima, Pastors , Clergy, Religious sisters, PPC and Catechist attended An Interreligious Dialogue among Religious Leaders in Basilan on December 02, 2017, held at Bishop Querexeta Formation Center, Isabela City Basilan. The Dialogue was conducted by Nagdilaab Foundation Incorporated (NFI) in partnership with key partners from Basilan Ulama Supreme Council (BUSC), UECI, Social Action Center and ZABIDA.

 

The Dialogue is anchored to the theme of Mindanao Week of Peace 2017,”Sustaining the Journey for Peace”. The aim was to assess on the interreligious mechanism and best practices in working together in pursuit to Peace, as well as to talk about the recent and challenging issues/concern that is happening globally and locally.

 

The program was commenced with a faith prayer led by Dr. Aboulkhair Tarason,Chairman Basilan Ulama Supreme Council (BUSC), Rev. Fr. Franklin Floyd Costan,Director, Social Action Center, Prelature of Isabela de Basilan and Pastor Ronald Paulino, Chairman of the United Evangelical Church Inc. (UECI) ,Both of them invoked the blessings and guidance of the good Almighty for the success of Interreligious Dialogue. Ms. Deddette Suacito rendered her welcome message and the Rationale of the program.

 

Ustadz Ahmad Ismael, Member of BUSC, Dean of Institution for Islamic Studies, BASC, and Rev. Fr. Franklin Floyd G. Costan, Director, Social Action Center, Prelature of Isabela de Basilan, bestowed their testimonial sharing on IRD experience.

 

During the open space a participant shared that dialogue is a way of life, healing of memories on violence, bridging communities, strengthening love and understanding to oneself.

 

Dr. Aboulkhair Tarason, Chairman Basilan Ulama Supreme Council (BUSC), imparted his deepening message on a common word between us and you, he said “in order to establish a good relationship between Allah and communities, we must always remember Allah, we must love one another, let us to meet as human being in building peace and harmony for the future of our generation to come,and we should taking care of each other, and we will move together, In sha Allah we can get fast tolerance, peace and better life for work. (sic)”

 

Pastor Ronald Paulino, Chairman of the United Evangelical Church Inc. (UECI), furnished his talk by saying “ Love symbolized Peace, Solidarity and Unity, we must Love our neighbor as we love our self, and we must love one another as we love ourselves, because Love is kind it is not injures, it does not boast , it is not risk other, it is not subsidy,and it is not easily anger (sic)”.

 

Msgr. Roel Casas, Administrator, Prelature of Isabela de Basilan, quoted some statement during his intensifying message about IRD, “if we want to pursue Peace and harmony, then refer to the one who created us and then we expressed indeed well future that we belong to him, and that all he loves, we must also love,respect, accept and forgive, may the journey of inner peace continuous (sic)”.

 

They also put emphasis that the journey to have peace in Basilan will continue, and everyone were able to promote and advocate peace, solidarity and unity to the youth because they believed the authentic Peace begins in young generation. (Ayara Jaimin/Nagdilaab Foundation Inc.)
