The activity is under the project โ€œConflict Prevention and Resolution at the Grassroots: Enhancing Skills of Women, Youth, and IP Leaders in BaSulTa,โ€ funded by UN Women and implemented by ZABIDA alongside local partner Tulung Lupah Sug. Participants from Barangays Latih, Mauboh, Chinese Pier, Bus-Bus, and Walled City joined the three-day learning activity, which brought together members of the Barangay and youth representatives committed to promoting peace within their communities. Throughout the sessions, participants explored topics on conflict transformation, community healing, and peace advocacy using gender-sensitive approaches. Discussions also highlighted the importance of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda and encouraged participants to recognize the role of grassroots leaders and young people in addressing community conflicts and strengthening social cohesion. The training also provided a space for participants to enhance their communication and advocacy skills through interactive workshops on peace messaging, poster-making, and basic news writing. These creative activities encouraged participants to use media and the arts as platforms for raising awareness and promoting positive community engagement. By the end of the activity, participants presented advocacy ideas and creative outputs that reflected their shared commitment to fostering peace, understanding, and active participation in their respective barangays.
